Free GATE CSE Notes 2027

These free GATE CSE Notes cover all 12 subjects of the Computer Science paper in PDF form, from Engineering Mathematics and Discrete Mathematics to Operating Systems, Computer Networks and DBMS. There are 39 files in total, arranged in 12 subject folders on Google Drive, and you can download every one of them without signing up or paying anything.

A folder of PDFs alone will not get you a good rank, though. So along with the download links, this guide shows which GATE CSE Notes match each section of the GATE 2027 syllabus, what to add for the 3 sections that changed this year, which subjects to read first based on marks, and how to revise the notes in the 4 months left before the exam. If you have not seen the new syllabus yet, start with our GATE CSE syllabus 2027 guide, and keep the GATE 2027 exam pattern handy for the marking rules.

We opened every folder on 24 October 2026 to confirm that all 12 links work and are public. Engineering Mathematics and Discrete Mathematics both fall under Section 1 of the official syllabus, and C Programming and Data Structures together make up Section 4, which is why 12 subject folders cover the 10 technical sections. General Aptitude is common to every GATE paper and is not part of these folders, so practise it from previous year papers alongside these notes.

What You Get in These GATE CSE Notes

The 39 files are not all the same kind of note. Knowing which is which saves you time, because each type suits a different stage of preparation.

  • Bookmarked full notes: the main study material for each subject. They are bookmarked, so you can jump straight to a topic such as deadlocks or normalization from the PDF sidebar instead of scrolling.
  • Short notes: compact versions for Algorithms, Computer Networks and Discrete Mathematics. Use them for quick revision once you have read the full notes.
  • Formula sheets: Engineering Mathematics has formula collections and a formula guide, and Computer Networks has its own formula file for networking numericals.
  • Extras: additional material for Theory of Computation, Compiler Design, Computer Networks and Discrete Mathematics, useful after your first round of reading.
  • Topic-wise splits: Discrete Mathematics is broken into 10 separate files, from combinatorics and graph theory to logic, lattices and algebraic structures, so you can finish it 1 topic at a time.

In short, these GATE CSE Notes give you a full read, a quick revision and a formula check for the subjects that need them most.

Are These GATE CSE Notes Enough for the 2027 Syllabus?

Mostly, yes. IIT Madras kept 7 of the 10 technical sections of the GATE CSE syllabus word for word the same as 2026, so the GATE CSE Notes for Engineering Mathematics, Programming and Data Structures, Algorithms, Theory of Computation, Compiler Design, Operating System and DBMS match the 2027 syllabus directly. 3 sections changed, and you should adjust your notes for 2 of them:

  • Computer Networks (changed the most): the 2027 syllabus now names principles of layering, performance metrics for switching and the socket API. It no longer names the OSI and TCP/IP stacks, framing, bridging, shortest path and flooding routing, ARP, DHCP, ICMP, UDP, SMTP, FTP and email. Add short notes on the new topics, and spend less time on the ones that are no longer listed.
  • Computer Organization and Architecture: control unit design (hardwired and microprogrammed), memory interfacing and memory performance are now named, while main memory, secondary storage and data-path are no longer listed. Mark these topics in your COA notes.
  • Digital Logic: only reworded, with K-map, tabular and algebraic minimization named clearly. Your Digital Logic notes need no change.

Which GATE CSE Notes to Read First

With limited time, read your GATE CSE Notes in the order of marks, not in the order of the syllabus. Based on the average weightage in recent CS papers, this is a sensible order:

  1. Engineering Mathematics and Discrete Mathematics (about 10 to 11 marks): the biggest technical block, and formula-driven, so it rewards revision.
  2. Algorithms (about 8 to 9 marks): read it together with Data Structures, since many questions mix both.
  3. Computer Networks (about 7 to 9 marks): use the formula sheet for numericals and add notes for the new 2027 topics.
  4. C Programming and Data Structures (about 7 to 8 marks): practise code tracing questions from previous papers as you read.
  5. Operating System (about 7 to 8 marks): scheduling, deadlocks, paging and synchronization repeat often.
  6. DBMS and Theory of Computation (about 6 to 7 marks each): DBMS is easier to score, while TOC needs more practice.
  7. Digital Logic and COA (about 5 to 6 marks each), then Compiler Design, which carries a smaller share.

Do not forget General Aptitude, which is worth a fixed 15 marks in every paper. For a subject-by-subject breakdown of marks, see our guide to the most scoring subjects for GATE CSE 2027.

How to Study From GATE CSE Notes in the Last 4 Months

Reading notes once is not enough. Use the 3 types of files in 3 passes, so that every pass is faster than the last:

  1. Pass 1, November to December: read the bookmarked full notes subject by subject in the order above. After each topic, solve the GATE previous year questions on it the same day.
  2. Pass 2, January: switch to the short notes and formula sheets. Write your own 1-page summary for subjects that do not have a short note, such as DBMS and Operating Systems.
  3. Pass 3, the last 2 weeks: revise only from short notes, formula sheets and your own summaries, and take full-length mock tests every 2 to 3 days.

Keep your mock scores well above the qualifying line. The General cutoff was 30 marks in GATE 2026, as shown in our GATE CSE previous year cutoff analysis, so aim much higher than that. For a full week-by-week routine that uses these GATE CSE Notes, follow the GATE CSE 2027 4 months study plan.

How to Download GATE CSE Notes PDF

  1. Find your subject in the download table above and click Download.
  2. The subject folder opens in Google Drive in a new tab. You do not need to sign in to view it.
  3. To save 1 file, open it and click the download icon at the top right.
  4. To save the whole folder, click the folder name at the top and choose Download. Drive will save it as a ZIP file.
  5. Rename the files by subject and keep them in 1 folder on your phone or laptop for quick offline revision.

If a file does not open on your phone, download it first and open it in a PDF reader, which also lets you use the bookmarks in the full notes.

5 Mistakes to Avoid With GATE CSE Notes

  • Collecting instead of reading: downloading many sets of GATE CSE Notes feels like progress, but 1 set read 3 times beats 3 sets read once.
  • Skipping previous year questions: notes explain the concept, and PYQs show how GATE asks it. Use both together.
  • Ignoring the 2027 changes: notes made for older syllabi will not cover the new Computer Networks and COA topics on their own.
  • Leaving General Aptitude for the end: it is 15 easy marks, and no subject note covers it.
  • Reading without writing: make small summaries in your own words. They become your best material in the last week.
