Important GATE 2027 Registration Notices From IIT Madras

These official updates were issued during September 2026 and apply to everyone who completes GATE 2027 Registration in the extended window:

  • Unverified DigiLocker is allowed: you can apply with an unverified account and choose the default ID proof. Your documents will be checked after the deadline and again at the exam centre.
  • Do not delete your DigiLocker account: all future GATE 2027 communication is tied to the account you applied with.
  • Data mismatch error: complete e-KYC in DigiLocker and try again.
  • Face capture issues: candidates with visual impairment should email [email protected].
  • Help document: a Solutions to Frequently Faced Issues PDF is available on the guidelines page.

Correction Window After GATE 2027 Registration

Mistakes can be fixed between 14 and 21 October 2026. Changes to name, date of birth, exam city or paper cost ₹500 per paper. Address, parent details and degree details can be edited free of cost. If a change moves you into a higher fee group, you also pay the fee difference.

Our Advice: Apply Before the Weekend

IIT Madras has clearly asked candidates not to wait for the last day. The helpdesk (044-22578200) takes application calls only from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on weekdays, and 5 October falls on a Monday. Since 2 October is Gandhi Jayanti, a public holiday, try to finish your GATE 2027 Registration by Thursday, 1 October. That leaves you time to fix any DigiLocker or payment problem.
