Free GATE ECE Notes 2027

Free GATE ECE Notes are easy to find, but notes that match the 2027 syllabus, open on a phone and come with a plan to finish them are not. This page gives you handwritten GATE ECE Notes PDF files for every core subject of the Electronics and Communication paper, more than 2,000 scanned pages in all, sorted by the official sections of the GATE 2027 EC syllabus.

We downloaded and opened every file before writing this guide. So along with the download links, you will see the page count and size of each PDF, the topics that the notes do not cover, the new 2027 topics you need to add, and a 12-week timetable to finish all the notes before the exam in February 2027. For the full topic list, keep our GATE ECE syllabus 2027 guide open as you go.

GATE ECE Notes PDF: Download Links by Syllabus Section

The GATE 2027 EC paper has 8 technical sections plus General Aptitude. Instead of a random subject list, the table below places each set of GATE ECE Notes under the section it prepares you for, with the expected marks of that section.

All 9 core GATE ECE Notes files were checked on 28 October 2026 and open without a login. Expected marks come from recent EC papers and are estimates, since IIT Madras does not publish section-wise marks. The Network Theory file is saved on Drive under a different name, but its pages are network theory throughout, from passive elements to maximum power transfer and transients.

You may see Control Systems listed twice as Part 1 and Part 2 on other sites. We compared the 2 files, and every page we checked is identical, so they are the same notes uploaded twice and you only need the 1 link above.

Why Handwritten GATE ECE Notes Work Well for Revision

Every PDF in these GATE ECE Notes is a scan of handwritten class notes, not typed text. That has real advantages for GATE ECE preparation:

  • Solved examples on every few pages: the notes work through GATE-style numericals step by step, such as finding the load resistance for maximum power transfer or simplifying a Boolean expression.
  • Boxed key results: important formulas and theorems, like De Morgan’s theorem in the Digital Electronics notes, are boxed, so they stand out during quick revision.
  • Diagrams drawn by hand: circuits, waveforms and block diagrams sit next to the working, which makes them easier to recall in the exam.
  • Exam-sized pace: handwritten pages hold less text than a textbook page, so 30 pages a day is realistic even alongside practice.

There is 1 drawback. Because the pages are images, you cannot search the text inside these GATE ECE Notes. Make a 1-page index of topics and page numbers for each subject as you read, and you will be able to jump straight to any topic during revision.

What These GATE ECE Notes Do Not Cover

No single set of notes covers everything, and it is better to know the gaps now than in January. These are the 3 gaps in this set of GATE ECE Notes:

  • Engineering Mathematics (9 to 14 marks): there is no maths file in this set. Study linear algebra, calculus, differential equations, vector analysis, complex analysis and probability from a standard book or from GATE previous year questions. The Engineering Mathematics folder in our free GATE CSE notes has formula guides and probability notes that partly overlap with EC, but the EC paper also tests complex analysis and vector calculus.
  • General Aptitude (15 marks): no subject notes cover it. Practise it from previous year papers and mock tests.
  • The 2027 additions: these notes follow the older syllabus, so they may not include the topics added this year. The next section lists them.

The set also includes 2 extra files that are not part of the GATE 2027 EC syllabus. Download them only if you need them for a university exam or an ESE-style paper:

Extra notesPagesWhy it is extraDownload
Material Science148Dielectric and material properties are not in the GATE 2027 EC syllabusDownload
Microwave Engineering144Covers microwave devices such as vacuum tubes, which the syllabus does not list; waveguides are covered under ElectromagneticsDownload

The same thinking applies to the Microprocessor and Computer Organisation notes. The GATE 2027 Digital Circuits section names basic computer organisation and pipelining, so read those parts and treat detailed microprocessor programming as optional.

2027 Syllabus Gaps to Fill in Your GATE ECE Notes

IIT Madras revised 6 of the 8 technical sections of the EC syllabus for 2027, while Digital Circuits and Electromagnetics stayed the same. Here is each new topic and which of your GATE ECE Notes it belongs to, so you can add a page to the right file:

Source coding (Huffman, Shannon-Fano)CommunicationsCommunication Systems notes, information theory

Each of these needs only a few extra pages in your GATE ECE Notes. Our GATE ECE syllabus 2027 post explains every change, and the official wording is on the GATE 2027 papers and syllabus page.

Download Size and Storage Tips

These GATE ECE Notes are scanned, so the files are large. The 9 core PDFs together are about 410 MB, with single files ranging from about 12 MB (Microprocessor and Computer Organisation) to about 75 MB (Electromagnetic Field Theory). Adding the 2 extra files brings the total to about 470 MB.

  • Download on Wi-Fi, 1 file at a time, so a broken connection does not waste mobile data.
  • If Google Drive shows a preview without a download button on your phone, open the link in a browser instead of the Drive app and tap the download icon at the top.
  • For revision on the go, keep only the current subject on your phone and the rest on your laptop.
  • Rename each file by section name, such as 1 Networks or 2 Communications, so your folder matches the syllabus order.

A 12-Week Plan to Finish the GATE ECE Notes Before February

With the exam starting on 6 February 2027, 12 weeks from 2 November leaves 2 final weeks for mock tests. The plan follows the expected marks of each section and keeps the daily reading load under 40 handwritten pages.

Keep 1 hour every day for Engineering Mathematics and General Aptitude, since these GATE ECE Notes do not cover them. After each chapter of your GATE ECE Notes, solve the previous year questions on it the same day. For subject priorities, read our guide to the most scoring subjects for GATE ECE 2027, and for a weightage-based routine, see the GATE ECE 2027 4 months preparation strategy.

Track your mock scores against the qualifying line as well. The General cutoff in GATE 2026 was 26.4, as shown in our GATE ECE previous year cutoff analysis, but a useful GATE score needs far more. Check every rule on marking in the GATE 2027 exam pattern guide before your first mock.

FAQs on GATE ECE Notes

Where can I download free GATE ECE Notes for 2027?

Use the section-wise table on this page. Each Download button opens a handwritten PDF on Google Drive that you can save without signing up or paying.

Are these GATE ECE Notes handwritten?

Yes. Every file is a scan of handwritten class notes with solved examples, boxed formulas and hand-drawn circuits. The pages are images, so the text cannot be searched.

Which subjects do the GATE ECE Notes cover?

They cover Network Theory, Signals and Systems, Communication Systems, Analog Electronics, Electronic Devices and Circuits, Control Systems, Digital Electronics, Microprocessor and Computer Organisation, and Electromagnetic Field Theory.

Do these GATE ECE Notes include Engineering Mathematics?

No. This set has no maths file, although Engineering Mathematics carries about 9 to 14 marks in the EC paper. Study it from a standard book and previous year questions.

Are the GATE ECE Notes updated for the 2027 syllabus?

The notes follow the older syllabus. For 2027, add short notes on FIR and IIR filter design, Miller compensation, PID controller, MOSFET scaling, source coding, and correlation and regression.

How big are the GATE ECE Notes PDF files?

The 9 core files are about 410 MB together and more than 2,000 pages. Single files range from about 12 MB to 75 MB, so download them on Wi-Fi.

Are Material Science and Microwave Engineering in the GATE 2027 EC syllabus?

No. Neither is listed in the GATE 2027 EC syllabus, so these 2 extra files are optional. Waveguides are covered under Electromagnetics instead.

How long does it take to finish all GATE ECE Notes?

About 12 weeks at under 40 pages a day. Starting on 2 November leaves 2 weeks for mock tests before the exam begins on 6 February 2027.
